Spiral Facilitation Featured

Spiral Facilitation is the work of Emily Courtney, Sustainable Enterprise Facilitator and Director of Green Programs at Laney College. My guiding purpose is to stimulate the transition to a just and sustainable economy.
The root of facilitation is to make easy. My work is to make it easier for inspired, triple bottom line entrepreneurs to make their vision a reality by removing barriers and creating pathways to opportunity.
Entrepreneurship requires a diverse skill set, and the demands of balancing the ecological, social and financial bottom lines require an extraordinary generalist. I help to fill in skill set gaps, to create structures for success, and to empower entrepreneurs to be highly effective business managers. I work with sustainable enterprises to provide:

  • Financial forecast modeling,

  • Business management training,

  • Business & marketing plans,

  • Investor presentations,

  • Green & social marketing, and

  • Strategic planning.

I often provide an affordable bridge from the start up to rapid growth phase, before an organization is prepared to hire a full-time business manager. I also work with conventional businesses to make the transition to sustainability and with earned income non-profit initiatives.

What people are saying about the GreenMBA

“It was a genuine pleasure to work with the Green MBA Team as they researched and designed the Maker Faire Alternative Transportation Plan.  We were able to successfully institute this plan with the city and county departments and raise awareness in the process.  The overall experience for our attendees improved greatly while reducing the impact the Maker Faire had on the environment.  The professionalism, diligence and aptitude of the team was top notch and together we made a difference.  This collaboration was an astounding success and our first benchmark goal was accomplished.  A great appreciation to the students for a job well done! Thank you.”
