Candace Rossman

Candace graduated from Smith College in 1996 with a BA in Music, minoring in Education. Returning to her hometown of Denver, Colorado, she pursued a music teaching career. After two years, frustrated by the lack of authenticity of the experience, she applied to Graduate School at Colorado State University to gain more exposure to music therapy and education. On summer break after her first year, she worked for a high tech company who began to preen her for their marketing department. It worked and she began her career in corporate America. After being laid off and working in a few more corporations, she began to look for a challenging, fitting and soulfully rewarding career. After her mom’s sudden death in 2002, she decided to go into environmental education, learning that “tomorrow is not certain, but your choices today matter.” After a year and a half with the Student Conservation Association’s Fire Education Corps, she determined that the federal environmental agencies the SCA partnered with were honorable, but not effective against the largest contributors to the problem-corporations. She then decided there had to be a program that was designed to teach her the art of transforming rather than simply regulating business. “What was unexpected was the personal transformation that begins with critical thinking skills coupled with whole systems thinking that literally turns your world on it’s side. However, with such a supportive and challenging community, you can’t help but turn your head to the side and revel in the view. My skills here have grown immensely. I have never enjoyed school, homework and speaking situations that I dreaded so much in the past. This learning model is fitting to my learning style and challenging in ways that are so far beyond ‘learning the numbers.’”

What people are saying about the GreenMBA

“It was a genuine pleasure to work with the Green MBA Team as they researched and designed the Maker Faire Alternative Transportation Plan.  We were able to successfully institute this plan with the city and county departments and raise awareness in the process.  The overall experience for our attendees improved greatly while reducing the impact the Maker Faire had on the environment.  The professionalism, diligence and aptitude of the team was top notch and together we made a difference.  This collaboration was an astounding success and our first benchmark goal was accomplished.  A great appreciation to the students for a job well done! Thank you.”
