Christopher Byrne

Christopher Byrne is independently contracting through his firm, Shambhala Consulting. Combining the “Green is Good ” model of New College of California's MBA in Sustainable Enterprise with the analytic framework of the Integral perspective, Shambhala Consulting promotes sustainability through business by assisting companies in successfully meeting the challenges and realizing the rewards of “going green” . Projects presently include coordinating the sustainable design, renovation, and operations plan of an Eco-retreat / HotSprings in Northern California and a vision of purpose for a tea company in Oregon. “We are presently in a time of profound opportunity to address the fundamental disconnect between the values of conscious businesses and their actual practices. An incorrect, yet common assumption still exists that being a “green business” is an added expense that smaller firms can not afford. That perspective has changed, and Shambhala Consulting's mission is to help small to medium size businesses navigate the switch. The moral obligation that once led the motivation to be green is now the icing on the cake. It is now a fiduciary responsibility to take green practices very seriously. “Shambhala Consulting is participating in the Sustainability Revolution by encouraging our hearts to be more in line with their economic expressions. Combining earth-friendly technologies and practices with a deep inquiry of purpose that inspires the remembering of the role of humans as co-creators with Spirit is the higher purpose of my work.” Chris lives in Ashland OR, with his wife Jesua and daughter Araela. He is also participating in the launch of an exciting new market-based community lending platform called Circle One. Chris graduated in May of 2005.

What people are saying about the GreenMBA

“It was a genuine pleasure to work with the Green MBA Team as they researched and designed the Maker Faire Alternative Transportation Plan.  We were able to successfully institute this plan with the city and county departments and raise awareness in the process.  The overall experience for our attendees improved greatly while reducing the impact the Maker Faire had on the environment.  The professionalism, diligence and aptitude of the team was top notch and together we made a difference.  This collaboration was an astounding success and our first benchmark goal was accomplished.  A great appreciation to the students for a job well done! Thank you.”
